Frequently asked questions
Q. What is the difference between BagJaw and Rake “n” Sweep?
A. BagJaw and Rake “n” Sweep use the same frame and dustpan. Rake “n’ Sweep comes with an additional reusable GardenBag but will also work with plastic lawn and leaf bags. BagJaw only works with plastic lawn and leaf trash bags. No bag is included.
Q. Why would I buy one over the other?
A. Essentially, you do the same thing with both. However, different areas have different green refuse collection requirements. In areas where customers are provided with green carts, or when compost piles are utilized, we recommend Rake “n” Sweep. It’s always ready to go.
In areas where refuse needs to be bagged, we recommend BagJaw.
Q. What size rake should I use?
A. We recommend a standard 16” wide rake. The dustpan is 24” wide. Super-size rakes are too wide to allow the users foot to hold the dustpan in position.
Q. Can I line the green GardenBag with a plastic bag?
A. Yes you can. With the GardenBag attached to the frame, simply wrap the bag over the dustpan and around the rest of the frame. A 39 gallon bag works best due to the longer length.
Q. Does BagJaw work with any other size lawn & leaf bags other than 33 or 39 gallon?
A. No and Yes. 33 and 39 gallon bags have the same width. BagJaw and Rake “n” Sweep are both designed to accommodate that width. We do have adapters available that will accommodate up to 55 gallon bags if desired (max 40” width bag).
Q. Do I have to use drawstring bags with BagJaw?
A. No, but it is recommended. The drawstring functions as a stop to help prevent the frame from slipping past the bag edge. There is a technique that can be used with standard bags. It takes a little getting used to, but you can do the following;
1. Follow the instructions on the package. When the frame is in position, bow the rods down and wrap the bag edge around the connector and release. The bag edge gets sandwiched between the connector and the inside wall of the bag.
Q. Will it break and are replacement parts available?
A. Our products are made with highly durable material and will withstand even brutal hammers. Although unlikely, in the event that a part does break from normal use, all parts are fully guaranteed for 90 days after purchase and are replaceable.
Q. How does it mount to a wall for receptacle use?
A. There are two “key holes” on the dustpan. Simply space two nails the same distance on a wall and low enough so the bottom of the bag is supported by the floor. The dustpan drops and locks over the nail heads.
